7AT1STROKE – that’s seven questions a day for comic artists and illustrators. This time: Axsandra Bartnik.
Axsandra Bartnik currently studies and works in Polimoda, Florence in Italy.
Why did you start drawing?
I started to draw because this is the way how I’m describing my emotions and thoughts. For me it’s a form of a freedom. Choosing art as the form to express myself and my surrounding.
How would you describe your style?
My style is made by hand or digitally. I also love to go for mixed techniques. It’s linear, colorful but also can be black and white. I love to create situation drawings, fashion illustration focused on the details but also on the portraits, to show the uniqueness and visibility of the person and the brand.
Which topics are particularly close to your heart?
Fashion, I’m also a fashion design student that’s why. I’m also really into drawing botanical prints, animals, illustrations for magazines.
How do you find inspiration?
Mostly thinking or I’m just getting inspired by really small moments that I want to catch.
What can comics, cartoons and illustrations accomplish that other media can‘t?
They can show the idea, the reality that is only in the mind of one person – and afterwards that reality is becoming the vision of others.
Your most beautiful/worst experience as a comic artist/illustrator?
Most beautiful: When I got choosen as one of the 10th best fashion illustrators in the fidaworldwide competition. Worst : That it is actually difficult to find illustration commissions.
Can you complete the sentence: „It matters to me that…“ for us?
